Linear guides are a type of rolling guidance system. Through the continuous rolling motion of steel balls between the slide block and the guide rail, the load platform can move linearly along the guide rail with ease and high precision. Compared to traditional sliding guides, the coefficient of friction in rolling guides can be reduced to 1/50 of the original value. Since the starting friction force is greatly reduced, there is correspondingly less wasted motion, making it easy to achieve micrometer-level feed and positioning. Furthermore, the clamping unit design between the slide block and the guide rail enables the linear guide to simultaneously withstand loads in all directions—up, down, left, and right. The features listed above are unmatched by traditional sliding guides; therefore, if a machine is equipped with a ball screw and uses linear guides for guidance, it will significantly improve equipment precision and mechanical performance.

CNC machines process materials (metals, plastics, wood, ceramics, or composites) to meet specifications by following encoded programming instructions, without the need for a human operator to directly control the machining process.
